Red Wings 5, Oilers 0: Petr Mrazek made 14 saves in his season debut while Joakim Andersson and defenseman Jakub Kindl each recorded a goal and an assist as Detroit remained perfect on its Western Canada road trip.
Darren Helm, Tomas Tatar and Todd Bertuzzi also scored for the Red Wings, who conclude their four-game trek at Winnipeg on Monday. Daniel Alfredsson notched two assists as Detroit improved to 7-0-5 in its last 12 visits to Edmonton.
Mrazek turned aside six shots in the first period and four in each of the final two sessions en route to his first career shutout. The 21-year-old Czech went 1-1-0 in two games with Detroit last season.
Helm, who appeared in one game in 2012-13 due to a back injury, made a triumphant return as he converted a breakaway chance 5:09 into the contest to put the Red Wings in front. Tatar buried a rebound in the slot 27 seconds later to extend his goal-scoring streak to three games and chase Richard Bachman, who stopped seven shots.
Kindl made it 3-0 by beating Jason LaBarbera (19 saves) with a one-timer from the top of the right faceoff circle at 6:55 of the second period and Andersson fired in a loose puck at 7:54 of the third. Bertuzzi capped the scoring with a power-play goal less than two minutes later.
