49ers 35, Rams 11: Colin Kaepernick threw for a pair of touchdown passes and Frank Gore ran for 153 yards and a score as visiting San Francisco snapped a two-game losing streak.
Kaepernick rebounded from a pair of dismal efforts by competing 15-of-23 for 167 yards and connected with Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis on scoring passes as the 49ers avenged a loss and tie to St. Louis (1-3) last season. Gore averaged a robust 7.7 yards on his 20 carries in his first 100-yard regular-season game since Oct. 18, 2012.
San Francisco's defense spotted the Rams an early 3-0 lead but allowed only 188 yards overall, including seven in the third quarter. Rams quarterback Sam Bradford threw for 202 yards with one touchdown and an interception on 19-of-41 passing as St. Louis punted nine times and turned the ball over twice in 11 possessions after Greg Zuerlein's 40-yard field goal midway through the first quarter.
The 49ers had only 25 total yards themselves in the first 15 minutes before taking control with a pair of 80-yard touchdown drives in the second quarter. Kaepernick hit Boldin on a 20-yard strike on third-and-19 for the first TD and Gore broke loose for a 34-yard scoring run on fourth-and-inches for a 14-3 halftime lead.
San Francisco steadily pulled away as Kaepernick connected with Davis on a 12-yard scoring pass with 8:49 remaining in the third quarter to stretch the lead to 21-3 and put it out of reach when Bradford was sacked and fumbled at his own 3-yard line, leading to Anthony Dixon's 1-yard plunge with 10:15 to play.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Gore's scoring run just before halftime was his 14th touchdown in the last 13 games against the Rams, - the most by any opponent against St. Louis in the Super Bowl era. ... Rams rookie S T.J. McDonald was carted off the field in the third quarter with a right leg injury and CB Cortland Finnegan exited in the first half with a high injury. ... San Francisco allowed only 18 yards rushing despite the absence of Pro Bowl linebacker Patrick Willis, who missed the game due to a groin injury suffered in Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
