Jared Rhoden registered a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds and Ike Obiagu contributed career highs of 20 points and eight blocks Tuesday night to boost host Seton Hall to a 78-45 rout of Wagner at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

Playing for the sixth time in 12 days, the Pirates (3-3) were without leading scorer Sandro Mamukelashvili for much of the second half. Mamukelashvili and Wagner's Chase Freeman each were assessed technical fouls and ejected following a brief altercation with 16:39 remaining.

Shavar Reynolds and Takal Molson chipped in nine points apiece for Seton Hall, which had 11 blocks and outrebounded Wagner 39-31.

Wagner (0-1) endured a scoring drought of 8:22 bridging the end of the first half and beginning of the second, missing 11 successive field goal attempts and three free throws during that span. The Pirates led by 16 points at halftime, and their advantage swelled to as many as 35 points in the second half.

Elijah Allen and Elijah Ford scored 13 points apiece for the Seahawks, while Alex Morales snagged eight rebounds.

Seton Hall seized control of a 1-point game late in the first half by closing the half on a 15-0 scoring run and entering the break with a 37-21 lead. After Delonnie Hunt swished a 3-pointer to bring Wagner within 22-21 with 7:32 to go before halftime, the Seahawks misfired on their next 12 field goal attempts and missed a free throw, too.

Rhoden was especially dominant during the game-sealing surge, contributing seven points, six rebounds and three blocks during the last 7:11 of the half.

The Pirates shot 54.5 percent (12-for-22) in the first half compared to 27.3 percent (9-for-33) for the Seahawks. Seton Hall shot 21-for-43 for the game, while Wagner was 17-for-62, including 3-for-20 from beyond the 3-point arc.

Wagner has lost its season opener to Seton Hall in each of the past two seasons, falling by 34 points in November 2019 and 40 in November 2018.
