A huge disparity in free throws helped Chattanooga beat East Tennessee State 73-67 in the Southern Conference final Monday at Asheville, N.C., sending the Mocs to the NCAA Tournament.
Top-seeded Chattanooga (29-5) sank 26 of 31 foul shots, while second-seeded East Tennessee State (23-11) was just 6-for-13 from the line.
The Mocs will be in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009.
Tre' McLean and Greg Pryor scored 13 points apiece to lead Chattanooga. Eric Robertson added 12 points.
East Tennessee State got a game-high 14 points from Desonta Bradford. T.J. Cromer scored 13, and Ge'Lawn Guyn had 11.
