Senior forward Shavon Shields and junior guard Andrew White scored 19 points apiece, and Nebraska overcame an early second-half deficit to defeat Prairie View A&M 81-50 on Tuesday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb.

Nebraska (8-5) rebounded from its 69-58 loss Sunday to Samford. The Cornhuskers have eight days off before playing their first Big Ten Conference game against Northwestern.

Prairie View A&M (0-11) was coming off its first home game of the season Wednesday, a 62-44 loss to Texas State, and had lost its first 10 games by an average score of 76-55.

Yet the Panthers had a 34-33 lead before Nebraska responded with 12-0 run to go ahead for good. The Cornhuskers led by as many as 32 points.

Senior forward Karim York scored 16 to pace the Panthers, who outscored Nebraska 20-5 to end the first half and trailed 31-28 at halftime.

Nebraska seemed in control in the first half after Shields made six straight free throws to give the Huskers a 26-8 lead.

Prairie View A&M, which shot just 1-of-8 to start the game, then responded with a surprising 16-0 run to close within two points. Nebraska went 7:15 between field goals, both by White.

York had six points in the run, which ended when Shields made two more free throws with 2:03 remaining.
