North Carolina State 77, Notre Dame 70: T.J. Warren scored 17 points and Anthony Barber added 16 as the visiting Wolfpack edged the Fighting Irish.

Desmond Lee and Ralston Turner added 12 points apiece for North Carolina State (11-4, 1-1 ACC), which never trailed in the second half and improved to 3-0 in ACC road openers under coach Mark Gottfried. Jordan Vandenberg gathered a team-high 11 rebounds.

Garrick Sherman paced Notre Dame (10-5, 1-1) with 21 points and a career-high 18 rebounds while Pat Connaughton was 5-of-11 from 3-point range and finished with 15 points. The Fighting Irish lost for the first time in three games since leading scorer Jerian Grant was dismissed from the team for an academic violation.

Barber’s half-court shot at the halftime buzzer gave the Wolfpack a 3-point advantage, and the Fighting Irish trailed by six with five minutes remaining. Steve Vasturia hit a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 69-66 with 1:29 left, but the Wolfpack scored their final eight points at the foul line to secure the win.

Eric Atkins had 14 points for the Fighting Irish, who shot 7-of-24 from 3-point range and failed to capitalize on a 79-77 win over Duke on Saturday. North Carolina State, making its first visit to Notre Dame since 1982, was 25-for-32 from the foul line while the Fighting Irish were 9-for-12.
