Marquette 70, South Florida 47: Todd Mayo scored a season-high 13 points, joining three others in double figures, as the visiting Golden Eagles trounced the Bulls.

Mayo's offense came entirely in the first half as Marquette jumped out in front early and never looked back. After a 13-3 lead off the opening tip, the Golden Eagles (16-5, 7-2 Big East) led by as many as 25 in the opening 20 minutes on the way to a 39-16 halftime lead.

South Florida was uncharacteristically sloppy in the early going, making only five of its 18 shots from the field before halftime and exceeding their season average of 10.6 turnovers with 12 in the first half. The Bulls (10-12, 1-9) coughed up the ball 16 times for the game, losing their fifth straight and falling to 1-9 in their last 10.

Vander Blue added 13 points, Junior Cadougan chipped in with 11 and Jamil Wilson had 10 for Marquette, which has won nine of its last 11 games to keep pace with No. 9 Syracuse in the conference standings.

Freshman forward Zach LeDay led South Florida with 14 points - his third double-digit output in the last four games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Marquette improved to 19-3 all-time against South Florida, winning its 12th of the last 13 meetings, and sweeping the regular-season series this year. ... The 16 points at halftime marked the second-lowest first-half total for the Bulls this season after South Florida managed only 15 at the break in a loss to Louisville on Jan. 12. ... The Golden Eagles picked up just their second win of the season as the visitors, having dropped four of their first five road games coming in.
