Tim Frazier had 15 points and eight assists as Penn State overcame a poor start to rout visiting Mount St. Mary’s 72-43 on Sunday.
Cammeron Woodyard came off the bench to add 14 points for the Nittany Lions (7-5), who improved to 7-0 all-time against the Mountaineers (1-9).
Penn State shot just 34.6 percent in the first half and took a slim 28-25 lead into intermission, but hit four of its first five shots as it opened the second half with a 9-0 run.
The Nittany Lions turned up the defensive intensity and pounded the ball inside over the final 20 minutes, outscoring Mount St. Mary’s in the paint 22-10 while collecting 20 points off 11 Mountaineer miscues in the second half alone.
Penn State led by as many as 31 points late and shot 66.7 percent after the break.
Raven Barber finished with 11 points for Mount St. Mary’s, which has lost eight straight games.
