Austin Freeman scored eight of his 30 points in the final 2:59 as No. 20 Georgetown held off No. 7 Villanova, 69-66, in Philadelphia on Saturday.
Jason Clark added 10 points for the Hoyas (16-5, 5-4 Big East), who have won four straight to pull above .500 in conference play.
Freeman would finish 10 of 19 from the floor and 8 of 8 from the line, with all eight free throws coming in the final five minutes.
Villanova led 17-13 midway through the first half, when the Hoyas made their move with a 14-2 burst over the next six minutes. Seven points from Corey Fisher in the final 2:32 pulled the Wildcats out of their slump and sent them into the break trailing by just six, 32-26.
Georgetown would push it to as much as 55-45 when Freeman nailed a jumper with 6:37 on the clock. But Villanova battled back, drawing within 61-60 after Maalik Wayns free throws with 2:08 to play. The Wildcats would bring it back down to one point four times in the final two minutes, with Freeman responding on each occasion.
Fisher and Wayns finished with 15 points apiece for Villanova (17-4, 5-3 Big East), which has dropped three of its last four.
