Levi Knutson scored 20 points and Cory Higgins hit a huge jumper late as Colorado ended a nine-game losing streak to No. 20 Kansas State with a 74-66 road victory on Wednesday in the final meeting between the long-time Big 12 rivals.
Knutson was 7 of 10 from the field and 6 of 8 from beyond the arc, helping Colorado (13-4, 2-0 Big 12) to its sixth straight win. Thanks to Knutson, the Buffaloes were able to prevail despite an off-night from their leading scorer Alec Burks (12 points on 4-of-15 shooting.)
Colorado is certainly leaving a lasting impression in its final season in the conference.
The Buffaloes, who are headed to the Pac-12 next season, have recorded back-to-back wins over ranked opponents for the first time since 1997.
They never trailed after going on a 27-7 run that bridged the first and second halves. Still, the Buffaloes had to withstand a late run by the Wildcats.
K-State's Jamar Samuels split a pair of free throws, which made it 68-66 with 58 seconds left, but Higgins drilled a jumper that put the Buffaloes ahead, 70-66, and they sealed it from the free-throw line.
Jacob Pullen had 22 points for Kansas State (12-5, 0-2), which has lost its first two conference games for the second time in three seasons.
The Wildcats, who played the final game without suspended forward Curtis Kelly, were just 13 of 21 from the free-throw line.
