Texas got a breather at just the right time.
Coming off a loss and with a pair of high-profile games looming, No. 25 Texas rolled to a 101-65 victory over Texas State Saturday in a non-conference matchup.
The Longhorns (7-2) were coming off a loss to Southern California in which they scored a season-low 56 points. They needed to get back on track with games at North Carolina and Michigan State later this month. And they did so Saturday.
Texas led 39-24 at the break and rolled up 62 points in the second half to coast to victory and post its highest point total of the season.
Five Longhorns scored in double figures, paced by Cory Joseph with 19. J’Covan Brown scored 18 points off the bench, Jordan Hamilton had 16 and 10 rebounds and Gary Johnson and Tristan Thompson both scored 14 points.
Tony Bishop and Cameron Johnson each scored 12 points for Texas State (2-5), which has lost four straight.
