Mets 14, Reds 5: Travis d'Arnaud and Curtis Granderson both hit three-run homers and drove in four runs as visiting New York opened the three-game series with its third straight win.

Bartolo Colon (13-11) had no issues making the massive lead hold up, allowing two runs in seven innings for the Mets, who have won eight of their last 11 in Cincinnati. David Wright finished 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored while Lucas Duda, Wilmer Flores and Dilson Herrera also homered in New York's best offensive showing of the season.

Devin Mesoraco and Todd Frazier slugged solo homers to pace the Reds, who have dropped four straight. Alfredo Simon (13-10) was pounded for six runs and eight hits in four innings, his shortest outing since May 27.

The Mets jumped on Simon in the first, when d'Arnaud drove in a run with a base hit and Granderson followed with a double to score Wright and make it 2-0. Mesoraco homered in the home half of the inning, but d'Arnaud opened it up in the fourth with his 13th of the year and Flores went deep in the next frame for a 7-2 advantage.

Wright and d'Arnaud singled ahead of Granderson's blast in the sixth, and it became 11-2 when Wright ripped a run-scoring double in the seventh. Duda's two-run shot in the ninth capped the scoring for New York, which had five home runs in a game for the first time since Sept. 30, 2006.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Simon entered having given up one run and four hits in 11 career innings against the Mets. ... Both teams began the game at 66-74, seven games behind in the race for the second wild-card spot in the National League. ... Colon reached on a fielder's choice in the second inning and scored his fourth career run on a bases-loaded walk to Duda.
