Tyler Lockett caught a go-ahead 4-yard touchdown pass from Russell Wilson on fourth-and-goal with 2:20 remaining as the Seattle Seahawks rallied to defeat the host San Francisco 49ers 26-23 Sunday in an NFL regular-season finale in Glendale, Ariz.
Lockett made 12 receptions for 90 yards and two TDs, breaking a franchise record for most catches in a season with 100. Wilson completed 20 of 36 passes for 181 yards, helping the Seahawks (12-4) come back from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter.
Seattle's Alex Collins added an 8-yard touchdown run with 1:49 left after a San Francisco turnover.
San Francisco's Jeff Wilson rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown and also caught a late TD pass. Tristan Vizcaino, signed Friday because kicker Robbie Gould was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, added three field goals for the 49ers (6-10), who played their final three "home" games in Arizona because of coronavirus restrictions in Santa Clara County.
The Seahawks, who had already clinched the NFC West title, finished with the conference's No. 3 seed and will play host to the Los Angeles Rams in an opening-round playoff game next weekend.
Third-string quarterback C.J. Beathard completed 25 of 37 passes for 273 yards for the 49ers. That included a 3-yard TD pass to Jeff Wilson with 23 seconds left. Wilson's 7-yard touchdown run with 14:22 remaining gave the 49ers a 16-6 lead.
The Seahawks responded with Russell Wilson's 6-yard TD pass to Lockett. Jason Myers missed the extra-point attempt, leaving Seattle down by four points.
After a San Francisco punt, the Seahawks marched 85 yards for the go-ahead score.
Myers kicked 36- and 30-yard field goals in the first half to give the Seahawks a 6-0 lead.
Vizcaino made a 36-yarder with 25 seconds left in the first half to cut the margin to 6-3 at halftime, then booted 47- and 33-yarders in the third quarter to put San Francisco up 9-6.
Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf had three catches for 21 yards, surpassing Hall of Famer Steve Largent's single-season franchise record for receiving yards in a season. Metcalf finished with 1,303 yards, while Largent had 1,287 in 1985.
Lockett broke the franchise mark of 94 catches set by Bobby Engram in 2007 and matched by Doug Baldwin in 2016.
