Micah Potter had 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead No. 14 Wisconsin to a 61-55 victory over Maryland on Wednesday in College Park, Md.

D'Mitrik Trice contributed 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists in the victory. Brad Davison added six points for the Badgers, who overcame 39.3 percent shooting with a strong defensive performance.

Wisconsin (13-4, 7-3 Big Ten) never trailed while avenging a 70-64 home loss to the Terrapins on Dec. 28.

Aaron Wiggins led Maryland (9-8, 3-7) with 18 points. Donta Scott had 13 points and eight rebounds, and Darryl Morsell added 11 points and five assists.

Eric Ayala, who scored 17 points in the first meeting between the teams, was held to four points Wednesday on 1-for-10 shooting.

Maryland, which was playing its first conference home game since Jan. 7, shot 35.8 percent from the field.

The Terrapins scored just six points in the first 11 minutes as the Badgers quickly established a double-digit advantage.

The Terrapins pulled within eight, 24-16, on a pair of Morsell free throws with 3:40 left. Wisconsin outscored the home team 14-4 the rest of the half to secure a 38-20 lead at the break.

Potter was the catalyst. He got the run going with a 3-pointer. He also rammed in a dunk while getting fouled and completed the three-point play.

Potter had 14 points and eight rebounds by the break. The Terrapins were limited to 25 percent shooting during those 20 minutes.

The Badgers went scoreless for more than four minutes to start the second half as Maryland pulled within 10. Wiggins and Hakim Hart made 3-pointers and Morsell dunked during that 8-0 spurt.

After Wisconsin inched the lead to 12 points, the Terrapins reeled off nine unanswered points to pull within 43-40. Wiggins scored all but two of those points.

Davison answered with a 3-pointer. That touched off a 14-2 outburst by the Badgers. Potter had a three-point play and drained two 3-pointers during that span.

Wisconsin then went cold, going scoreless for more than six minutes. Wiggins cut the Badgers' lead to seven with a 3-pointer before Trice hit two free throws in the final minute.
