Sandro Mamukelashvili scored 14 of his 20 points in the second half and Myles Cale added 19 points as Seton Hall pulled away for a 60-43 win over host Providence on Wednesday.

Mamukelashvili shot 8 of 16 from the field and added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Cale scored 13 points after the break and added six rebounds and two steals as the Pirates (10-8, 7-5 Big East) avenged an 80-77 overtime loss to Providence in December. Mamukelashvili scored 20 in the loss and Cale added 16.

Nate Watson and Noah Horchler scored 10 points apiece for the Friars (9-9, 5-7), who have lost six of their past eight games. A.J. Reeves, who beat Seton Hall with a 3-pointer with 3.1 seconds left in the first matchup, scored four points on 2-of-5 shooting Wednesday.

David Duke, Providence's leading scorer, was held to six points on 2-of-8 shooting.

The Pirates were stingy on defense all night, holding the Friars to 34 percent shooting (17 of 50) while forcing 16 turnovers and committing just seven of their own. Seton Hall pounded Providence inside, holding a 38-16 advantage in points in the paint.

Tyrese Samuel sparked a 14-2 run with a 3-pointer, the Pirates' first after 16 misses to start the game, and Seton Hall established a 48-35 lead with 7 1/2 minutes left in the game. Cale and Samuel scored five points each during the spurt.

In a slow-paced first half during which the teams combined to shoot 32.8 percent from the field, Providence got six points and seven rebounds from Watson to take a 25-22 lead. Seton Hall got six points apiece from Cade and Mamukelashvili but was 0-for-13 from behind the arc.
