Marcus Garrett scored a career-high 24 points to lift No. 3 Kansas to an 87-70 victory over Oklahoma on Saturday in Lawrence, Kan.
Garrett was 9 of 18 overall and 6 of 9 from behind the 3-point line for the Jayhawks (22-3, 11-1 Big 12). He added seven assists, five rebounds and four steals.
Devon Dotson added 19 points and Udoka Azubuike tied his career high with 17 rebounds and scored 15 points for the Jayhawks, who won their 10th straight game to stay within striking distance of top-ranked Baylor at the top of the Big 12.
Kristian Doolittle continued his hot stretch for the Sooners (16-9, 6-6) with 27 points, 12 rebounds and a career-high five 3-pointers. He's averaging 24.7 points over the last three games.
Oklahoma's Brady Manek (seven points) was tasked with guarding center Azubuike on the interior and struggled, picking up his second foul just 10 minutes into the game.
While the Sooners left Garrett open regularly on the perimeter, they also didn't have an answer inside for Azubuike.
Garrett kickstarted the Jayhawks' 17-5 run to end the first half with back-to-back steals. Kansas led 41-32 at halftime.
The Jayhawks began the second half with a 12-2 run to go ahead 53-34 with 16:43 remaining.
The closest Oklahoma got in the second half was 61-51 with 11:37 to go. Dotson then had two layups in a 5-0 spurt that increased the Kansas advantage. The Sooners never really threatened after that.
The Jayhawks continued their dominance of Oklahoma at Allen Fieldhouse, stretching their winning streak over the Sooners in the building to 19. Oklahoma hasn't beaten Kansas in Lawrence since 1993.
