After a nine-day break from game action for midterm exams, Tulane bested winless Prairie View A&M 63-49 Monday in a nonconference game in New Orleans.

The Green Wave (6-4) led 24-19 at the intermission, and Prairie View (0-9) went on an 11-6 run to start the second half to tie the game at 30. However, Tulane answered with an 11-0 spurt keyed by two 3-pointers from senior guard Louis Dabney and one by freshman guard Kain Harris to make it 41-30 with 8:57 remaining.

The Panthers didn't quit, pulling within 42-38 with 7:35 left in regulation, but Tulane had one final run and methodically pulled away down the stretch.

Dabney led the Tulane attack with 24 points, shooting 6-for-12 from the field and 9-for-9 from the foul line. Senior guard Malik Morgan added nine points for the winners, while senior forward Jernard Jarreau did a little bit of everything for the Green Wave, registering six points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots.

Junior forward Admassu Wiliams paced Prairie View with 13 points and nine boards. Forward Zachary Hamilton added 11 points and eight rebounds off the bench.

The win over Prairie View started a busy, challenging week for Tulane, which travels to Chapel Hill to take on No. 11 North Carolina on Wednesday night and then heads to Mississippi State on Saturday.

The Panthers play host to Texas State on Wednesday.
