No. 9 Louisville 81, Boston College 72: Chris Jones went 10-of-13 from the floor and tallied a career-high 28 points as the visiting Cardinals pulled away late to defeat the Eagles in the first meeting between the schools since 1996.

Terry Rozier scored 17 of his 23 points in the second half for Louisville (17-3, 5-2 ACC), which never trailed and has won 46 consecutive regular-season games against unranked opponents. Montrezl Harrell chipped in with 12 points and Wayne Blackshear went 7-for-7 at the foul line to overcome a 1-of-7 effort from the field and finish with 10.

Aaron Brown knocked down five 3-pointers and exploded for a career-high 28 points for Boston College (9-10, 1-6), which has dropped nine of its last 10 conference games. Patrick Heckmann poured in 14 points while Olivier Hanlan added 11 points and nine assists before fouling out late for the Eagles.

Louisville built a 43-37 advantage heading into the first media timeout in the second half before Brown scored six of his team’s next 10 points to close the gap to three with just under 12 minutes left. Rozier answered with a jumper at the other end and drained a triple with just over eight minutes to go to cap an 11-4 push and give the Cardinals their first double-digit lead at 59-49.

Heckmann’s three-point play and 3-pointers from Hanlan and Brown quickly fueled a 12-3 push over a two-minute span as the Eagles rallied to within one with 5:13 to play, but back-to-back triples from Jones made it 68-61 and forced a BC timeout. Hanlan’s layup with 2:13 left trimmed the deficit to five, but Jones answered with a bucket of his own after a timeout and Louisville hit nine free throws over the last 1:12 to seal it.
