Boston University 83, Maryland 77: D.J. Irving scored a season-high 25 points despite sitting out much of the second half with four fouls as the visiting Terriers knocked off the Terrapins.
Irving was 7-of-11 from the floor in 22 minutes, including 4-of-5 from 3-point territory, while Dom Morris added 16 points and five rebounds for Boston University (7-5), which snapped a three-game losing skid. Cedric Hankerson came off the bench for a career-high 14 points and seven rebounds and Maurice Watson added 13 points - all in the second half.
Dez Wells led Maryland (7-5) with 18 points, nine rebounds and a career-high five blocked shots and Evan Smotrycz tallied 15 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Jake Layman added 14 points for the Terrapins, who committed 17 turnovers and had their two-game winning streak end.
Maryland trailed by as many as 12 early in the second half before battling back to take the lead at 58-57 on a layup by Smotrycz, but the Terriers answered with seven unanswered points as part of a 13-3 run to go ahead 70-61 with 3:16 remaining. Boston University went 11-of-16 from the foul line over the final three minutes to notch its first non-home win over an Atlantic Coast Conference school since 2002.
Playing for the first time at Maryland since 1991, the Terriers turned in a strong first half behind 15 points from Irving and 10 points from Morris, with the two combining to shoot 9-of-13 from the floor, including 4-of-4 from beyond the arc. Boston University's press forced Maryland into 11 turnovers in the half and the Terriers used a late 7-3 spurt to take a 42-32 lead at the intermission.
