Iowa State 83, West Virginia 74: Will Clyburn scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and the Cyclones survived a furious second-half rally from the host Mountaineers.
Iowa State (21-10, 11-7 Big 12) also received 21 points from Korie Lucious, who knocked down five 3-pointers, tying a career high. Georges Niang added 14 and Chris Babb chipped in 11.
Jabarie Hinds came off the bench to score 19 points, including 4-of-5 3-pointers, to lead West Virginia (13-18, 6-12), which dropped its sixth straight. Aaric Murray, Matt Humphrey and Eron Harris all scored 11.
An 11-0 first-half run allowed the Cyclones to open up a 36-18 lead, and they closed the first half on an 8-0 run to take a 44-20 lead into intermission in the regular-season finale for both teams. A 13-0 Mountaineer spurt midway through the second half helped West Virginia eventually pull within four with 45 seconds left after two straight steals and layups.
The Mountaineers' comeback was sparked by 9-for-16 3-point shooting in the second half. But Iowa State hit seven free throws in the final minute to hold on.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Iowa State's 24-point halftime lead tied for its second-largest lead at the break this season. … The Cyclones, who have made more 3-pointers than any team in the NCAA, hit 10-plus from deep for the 19th time this season. This is also the first time in program history Iowa State has over 300 triples for a season. … Iowa State will be seeded fifth and face Oklahoma on Thursday at the Big 12 tournament, which begins Wednesday. West Virginia, the eighth seed, will play ninth-seeded Texas Tech on Wednesday.
