Boise State 89, LSU 70: Anthony Drmic hit six 3-pointers and scored a career-high 34 points as the host Broncos handed the Tigers their first loss while also collecting their second high-profile win in less than three weeks.
Fellow sophomore Derrick Marks finished with 23 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals while Ryan Watkins grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds – including 10 on the offensive end – for Boise State (7-2), which also handed No. 13 Creighton its only defeat of the season.
LSU (6-1) watched Boise State score the first six points of the game, but Johnny O’Bryant III hit a pair of jumpers to key a 19-5 run to give the Tigers their biggest lead of the game at 19-11. But two 3-pointers from Drmic helped the Broncos to eventually tie the game at 27.
Eight unanswered straight points from Kenny Buckner and Drmic sparked a 16-3 run over the final 5:39 before the break and Boise State increased the margin to as many as 20 points in the second half.
Freshman Corban Collins scored a career-high 19 points while O’Bryant added 15 for the Tigers.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Drmic shot 12-of-18 from the field and Marks nailed all 12 of his free-throw attempts. … Watkins not only recorded his career first double-digit rebound effort, but nearly doubled his previous career high of nine. … O’Bryant saw his three-game double-double streak come to an end as he finished with just five rebounds Friday.
