Mike Scott had 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Virginia scored 25 of the first 30 points en route to a 68-42 victory over visiting Green Bay on Friday.

That strong start meant everything to the Cavaliers (5-1), who led 27-7 before going the final eight-plus minutes of the first half without a field goal and settling for a 33-23 lead at intermission.

The Cavaliers poured it on again in the second half, opening a 62-37 lead with 3:31 to go.

K.T. Harrell contributed 14 points for Virginia, which has yet to allow an opponent to score 60 points this season. The challenge intensifies, though, Tuesday when Michigan comes to Charlottesville as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

Green Bay (2-4) shot 30 percent from the field and the team’s general lack of experience showed in the Phoenix’s horrendous start.

Keifer Sykes’ 11 points set the offensive pace. Alec Brown, a second-team preseason all-conference center, had nine points but was harried into a 3-of-10 shooting performance from the field.
