Jaren Jackson Jr. had 29 points, Dillon Brooks supplied 27 and the visiting Memphis Grizzlies pulled away from the depleted Detroit Pistons to win 125-112 on Friday.

Rookie Ja Morant contributed 16 points and 12 assists, Brandon Clarke had 15 points and 11 rebounds off the bench and De'Anthony Melton added 14 points and five assists for Memphis.

Derrick Rose led Detroit with 22 points and eight assists. Christian Wood contributed 20 points and six rebounds off the bench while Reggie Jackson, Svi Mykhailiuk and Langston Galloway scored 14 points apiece. Thon Maker chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds.

Detroit was missing center Andre Drummond and starting wings Bruce Brown and Tony Snell. Drummond, the league's top rebounder, sat out for the second straight game after getting elbowed in the mouth at the Washington Wizards on Monday, while Brown and Snell were sidelined due to the flu.

Jaren Jackson's 24-point first half lifted the Grizzlies to a 66-61 halftime lead. Memphis led by as much as 15 in the first half but the Pistons chipped away, as their reserves scored 29 points.

The Grizzlies maintained the lead throughout the third quarter. They pushed the lead to 82-72 with 5:13 left in the quarter on three Brooks free throws, one awarded after a technical foul against Detroit coach Dwane Casey.

Detroit answered with a 9-2 spurt, capped by a Markieff Morris basket, to cut Memphis' lead to three. The Grizzlies extended it to 92-85 entering the fourth.

The Pistons closed the gap in the first two minutes of the final quarter. Mykhailiuk's steal and layup and Morris' midrange basket made it 96-94.

A Galloway 3-pointer tied it at 101-all. A Reggie Jackson 3-pointer put Detroit up 104-103 with 6:30 left.

Morant scored four straight points to give Memphis a 109-105 lead with 3:57 remaining, and the Grizzlies dominated from that point. Jaren Jackson's first basket of the second half, a 3-pointer, and a Morant layup gave Memphis a 116-108 lead with 2:28 left.
