Dirk Nowitzki had 25 points and nine rebounds and Vince Carter added 17 points and eight assists as the Dallas Mavericks notched a 105-95 victory over the host Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.
Shawn Marion and Roddy Beaubois added 13 points apiece as Dallas snapped a three-game losing streak.
Al Harrington and Rudy Fernandez scored 17 points apiece as Denver lost its fourth straight and sixth in seven games.
Dallas led 81-64 midway through the third quarter after back-to-back 3-pointers by Carter. Soon after, the Nuggets rolled off 10 consecutive points to trail just 83-76 after a layup by Kosta Koufos with 1:23 remaining in the quarter.
The Mavericks led by double digits most of the final quarter as Denver shot just 27.8 percent from the field.
Nowitzki hit a 16-footer with 1:36 left to pass Adrian Dantley and move into 21st place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. Nowitzki has 23,179 career points.
Nene had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Ty Lawson had 16 points and 10 assists for Denver.
Nene (heel) and Afflalo (right big toe, left ankle) both returned from injuries but the Nuggets were without two other starters – forward Danilo Gallinari (ankle) and center Timofey Mozgov (ankle).
Dallas led 64-53 at halftime for its second-highest output in a half this season.
