Pau Gasol collected 21 points and 13 rebounds and Kobe Bryant added 23 points in 26 minutes as the Los Angeles Lakers torched the visiting Memphis Grizzlies, 124-105, on Tuesday.
Lamar Odom chipped in 17 points and eight boards for the Lakers, who have won their first four games by an average of 13 points.
There was no doubt who the better team was right from the start as Los Angeles surged to a 13-2 lead and led to the finish, carrying a 73-46 lead into the half. The Grizzlies pulled within 81-67 after Rudy Gay scored nine straight points in the third period, but the Lakers responded with a 7-0 run to temper any hopes of a comeback.
The large lead allowed Los Angeles to rest its starters for long stretches, and reserves Matt Barnes, Steve Blake and Shannon Brown each responded with double figures in points. Barnes led the bench with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Gay scored 30 points and Mike Conley added 16 and eight assists for the Grizzlies.
