C.J Fair picked up his eighth double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds and the Orange (21-4, 9-3 Big East) moved back into a three-way tie with Georgetown and Marquette atop the conference. Michael Carter-Williams added 14 points, nine rebounds and three assists.
Fuquan Edwin scored 21 points for the Pirates (13-13, 2-11), who have lost 11 of 12. Gene Teague added 14 points for Seton Hall, which stayed close despite going nearly eight minutes without a field goal in the first half.
The Pirates hit four of their first six 3-point attempts for a 21-12 lead with 11:17 left before Syracuse went on a 24-9 to close the first half. James Southerland hit two 3-pointers during the run, the second with 37 seconds left for a 36-30 halftime lead.
Teague's three-point play cut the lead to 43-39 with 15:50 left but he missed a layup on the next possession and Triche hit a 3-pointer on the other end. Seton Hall never got closer and Triche's 3-pointer with 3:11 left pushed the Orange's lead to 69-56.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Seton Hall opened a section of the upper level Saturday at the Prudential Center for the first time since moving home games there to start the 2007 season and set an attendance record with 13,569. ... Seton Hall went 12-of-24 from the free-throw line in the second half after hitting all five attempts in the first half. ... The Orange snapped a three-game road conference losing streak.
