Rutgers 57, Seton Hall 55: Eli Carter scored 14 points and host Rutgers held off a late rally by its in-state rival to snap a six-game losing streak.

Myles Mack scored 10 points - all in the first half - for the Scarlet Knights (13-10, 4-8 Big East), who ended their skid despite going without a field goal for the final 9 1/2 minutes.

Fuquan Edwin scored 18 points, including a late 3-pointer with 3.2 seconds left that cut the deficit to one, but it wasn't enough to prevent Seton Hall (13-12, 2-10) from tumbling to its sixth straight defeat and 10th loss in 11 games.

The Pirates pulled within 37-34 on Eugene Teague's basket with 14:34 to play, but Carter and Dane Miller hit 3-pointers in a 10-0 spurt as Rutgers built the lead to 47-34 with 9:30 left.

Aaron Cosby's 3-pointer cut to it 47-37, but it was the only field goal for Seton Hall in a span of nearly nine minutes. The Scarlet Knights led by a dozen with 4:24 left, but the Pirates inched back and pulled within 55-52 on Kyle Smyth's 3-pointer with 26 seconds left before Edwin's lunging 3-pointer made it a one-point game.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Miller scored seven points and became the 39th player in school history to surpass 1,000 for his career. ... Pirates F Brandon Mobley had 10 points after sitting out the last game with a shoulder injury. ... Carter, the leading scorer for Rutgers, had only three points in the first half after picking up two fouls in the first 3 1/2 minutes.
