UCLA 97, No. 9 Missouri 94 (OT): Freshman Shabazz Muhammad matched his season high with 27 points and Travis Wear scored a career-high 22 as the host Bruins improved to 22-15 against top 10 opponents since the start of the 2006-07 season.
Muhammad sank a 3-pointer with 1:04 remaining in overtime to give UCLA (10-3) a 95-93 lead. Earnest Ross made one of two free throws on the other end before Wear scored on a fall-away jumper with 12.1 seconds remaining, pushing the lead to 97-94. Missouri (10-2) missed two 3-point tries on its final possession.
Phil Pressey finished with 19 points and shattered his previous career high with 19 assists while Laurence Bowers and Keion Bell each scored 17 points for the Tigers.
UCLA used a 15-0 run to take a 23-11 with 11 minutes remaining in the first half. The Tigers clawed back to tie the score at 47 at halftime, then appeared in good position to win after scoring 12 straight points to move ahead 86-77 with 5:34 remaining in the regulation.
But the Bruins answered with nine straight points and tied the score again at 88 on a layup by Jordan Adams with 11.8 seconds left, sending the game into overtime.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Bill Walton announced the game for ESPN2, his first game with the network following a two-year layoff with a back ailment that eventually required surgery. … Wear’s twin brother, David, scored a season-high 16 points. … Ross finished with 16 points and Jabari Brown, in his third game since he was cleared to play following his transfer from Oregon, finished with 14 for Missouri.
