Freshman Shane Larkin scored half of his 12 points during the second overtime to lift Miami to a 90-86 victory over visiting Maryland on Wednesday.
Despite blowing a 16-point lead in the final 7:09 of regulation and losing three players to fouls by the end of the first extra period, the Hurricanes (13-7, 4-3 ACC) were able to regroup and control the final five minutes, scoring the first seven points of the period to take an 83-76 lead.
The Terrapins (13-8, 3-4) closed to within two in the final minute, but Larkin hit a pair of free throws with 19 seconds on the clock to seal it.
Maryland trailed 62-46 before scoring 11 straight points and closing regulation with another 9-0 run. Terrell Stoglin, who finished with a game-high 33 points, forced extra time when his 3-pointer made it 69-69 with 1:03 remaining.
Durand Scott scored 24 points on 11-of-14 shooting for Miami before fouling out late in the first overtime period.
Maryland coach Mark Turgeon was ejected after picking up a second technical foul with 7:30 remaining in the second half.
Stoglin finished 9 for 29 from the field, including 6 for 23 from 3-point range.
