The Chicago White Sox erupted for 17 hits -- including three each from Tim Anderson, Luis Robert and Jose Abreu -- in an 11-4 rout of the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night in Anaheim, Calif.
White Sox starter Johnny Cueto (2-4) gave up three solo homers but otherwise kept the Angels off the scoreboard and managed to work his way through six innings to get the win.
Andrew Velazquez (No. 5), Mike Trout (No. 23) and Shohei Ohtani (No. 17) each went deep on Cueto in the third inning to put the Angels up 3-0. But Cueto halted the Angels' offense from there and left the game to the White Sox offense.
Besides his home run, Ohtani also doubled twice and walked. But it wasn't nearly enough against a White Sox lineup that put up two five-run innings.
Robert was a triple shy of the cycle, and six other players had at least two hits. That includes Josh Harrison, whose two-run homer in the fifth inning off Angels starter Chase Silseth tied the game at 3-3.
Silseth, just called up from Double-A Rocket City to start the game, threw four scoreless innings before the White Sox got to him in the fifth for three runs.
Leury Garcia singled with one out and scored on a double by Seby Zavala. Harrison followed with a game-tying two-run homer, ending the night for Silseth.
Oliver Ortega (1-3) entered the game but quickly put the Angels in a hole. Anderson singled and, one out later, scored on Robert's two-run homer for a 5-3 White Sox lead.
The White Sox blew the game open in the seventh when eight of the first nine batters reached base with either a hit or walk. By the time the inning ended, the White Sox had scored five runs to take a 10-3 lead.
Eight of Chicago's 17 hits went for extra bases (two homers, six doubles), including two doubles by Abreu.
