Brandon Belt hit a grand slam, Kevin Pillar had a career-high five hits and Logan Webb won his major league debut as the San Francisco Giants cruised past the Arizona Diamondbacks 11-6 on Saturday night in Phoenix.
Belt connected off Taylor Clarke (4-4) as part of a five-run second inning. He also had an RBI single in the third and a run-scoring groundout in the eighth to match his career high with six RBIs.
A night after hitting two home runs, Pillar singled four times and doubled. He scored three times and drove in a run.
Mike Yastrzemski singled three times a night after belting three home runs. Belt, Stephen Vogt, Scooter Gennett and Austin Slater each added two of San Francisco's 18 hits -- 16 of which were singles.
Wilmer Flores led the D-backs' attack with four hits, while Christian Walker and Nick Ahmed hit home runs. Catcher Alex Avila pitched in relief for the second time in a week, striking out one in a 1-2-3 ninth.
Webb (1-0) allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits in five innings, striking out seven and walking one.
The 22-year-old right-hander, pitching in only his second game above Double-A, was in immediate trouble, giving up a single to leadoff hitter Jarrod Dyson and an RBI double to Flores one batter later. Flores made it 2-0 when he came around to score on a throwing error.
Webb settled down from there, keeping Arizona off-balance with his off-speed pitches complementing a mid-90s fastball.
Clarke needed only 11 pitches in a 1-2-3 first inning, but he couldn't get out of the second.
The Giants' first five batters of the second inning reached base. Alex Dickerson walked, Gennett reached on a fielder's-choice throwing error after a 12-pitch at-bat, Pillar singled to load the bases and Belt cleared them by driving a 1-1 pitch over the right field wall.
Clarke threw 42 pitches in the inning before being lifted with two outs.
The game ended when Eduardo Escobar was thrown out at third trying to stretch a double.
Arizona All-Star Ketel Marte was scratched from the lineup because of back tightness, although the team said he was expected to start Sunday as the D-backs try to avoid a four-game sweep.
