After suffering through another rough first inning, Felix Hernandez turned back the clock on Turn Ahead the Clock Night.

The Seattle right-hander allowed three runs in the first inning before blanking visiting Kansas City for the rest of his night in a 6-4 victory Saturday at Safeco Field. The Mariners won their season-high sixth game in a row.

Hernandez (8-6) went five innings, allowing three runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out five.

Four of those hits came in the first, as Hernandez's ERA in that inning rose to 10.00 this season. After singles by Whit Merrifield and Rosell Herrera, Mike Moustakas hit a 2-2 pitch over the right-field fence.

Moustakas 16th homer of the season gave the Royals a 3-0 lead before Hernandez had even recorded an out.

But it didn't take long for King Felix to right himself and the Mariners to come back on a night they reprised their popular 1998 promotion while wearing futuristic sleeveless and untucked jerseys that were crimson, black and silver.

Jean Segura singled with one out in the bottom of the first and Mitch Haniger followed with a run-scoring double to center field to start the comeback.

The Mariners took the lead in the second as Denard Span lined a leadoff single to left field and scored on Ryon Healy's two-run homer, his 16th of the season, to tie it.

Ben Gamel then hit a ball to shallow left that bounced over a diving Alex Gordon and rolled to the wall for a triple. Mike Zunino followed with a sacrifice fly to center field to make it 4-3.

Seattle added two more runs in the third off Royals starter Jason Hammel (2-10), as Haniger and Nelson Cruz led off with back-to-back singles. An out later, Span hit a run-scoring double to right field and Healy hit a popup single into center to give the Mariners a 6-3 advantage.

Hammel went six innings, allowing six runs on 13 hits. He didn't walk a batter and struck out four.

The Royals scored an unearned run in the seventh off Juan Nicasio. But Alex Colome pitched a scoreless eighth and Edwin Diaz worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his major league-leading 31st save of the season.
