Dodgers 8, Padres 2: Matt Kemp went 4-for-5 with a two-run homer and four RBIs as visiting Los Angeles kept its flickering postseason hopes alive.
Aaron Harang (10-10) pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings and Adrian Gonzalez had a pair of run-scoring singles as the Dodgers pulled within 3 1/2 games of the St. Louis Cardinals for the National League's second wild card. Harang had a no-hitter through 4 2/3 innings and left after allowing three straight singles in the sixth.
Juan Rivera also homered for Los Angeles, which chased Padres left-hander Clayton Richard with a three-run fourth inning, capped by Kemp's two-run double for a 6-0 lead. Kemp added a two-run blast in the sixth to make it 8-0.
Richard (14-13) had his five-game winning streak snapped in resounding fashion, getting rocked for six runs on 10 hits in a season-low 3 2/3 innings to fall to 6-3 lifetime against the Dodgers.
The Padres got on the board in the seventh when Chase Headley doubled in a run and scored on a single by Yasmani Grandal. Headley has 109 RBIs, second in the NL to Milwaukee's Ryan Braun.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Kemp, who was 0-for-12 with five strikeouts in his three previous games, reached 20 homers for the fourth consecutive season. ... Richard was bidding to become San Diego's first 15-game winner since Jake Peavy won 19 en route to capturing the NL Cy Young Award in 2007. ... Gonzalez extended his hitting streak to eight games and continued to torch his former teammates with another two hits to improve to 17-for-35 lifetime in eight games against the Padres.
