Padres 5, Diamondbacks 0: Eric Stults tossed seven stellar innings while going 2-for-2 and driving in a career-high three runs as visiting San Diego extended its winning streak to five games.
Stults (4-2) limited Arizona to three singles and a walk while striking out four. The left-hander is 3-0 in four starts since rejoining the Padres' rotation, allowing a total of one run over 20 innings in the victories.
After Everth Cabrera drew a two-out walk to load the bases in the second inning, Stults singled to center field to give San Diego a 2-0 lead. Stults, who entered 4-for-14 at the plate this season, added a two-out RBI double in the fourth to make it 4-0.
Chris Denorfia led off the third with his fifth home run and lifted a sacrifice fly in the seventh to complete the scoring.
Nick Vincent worked a scoreless eighth and Tommy Layne pitched a perfect ninth to complete the four-hit shutout.
Diamondbacks starter Patrick Corbin (5-5) lasted only four innings as he surrendered four runs and nine hits. The rookie southpaw, who walked one and struck out two, had his personal three-game winning streak snapped.
Chris Young recorded two of the four hits by Arizona, which fell to 2-3 on its 10-game homestand.
