Diamondbacks 8, Astros 2: Chris Young hit a three-run homer in a seven-run sixth inning and Josh Collmenter pitched six solid frames to help Arizona finish a three-game sweep of visiting Houston, which has lost six straight and 19 of 21.
Jason Kubel also homered for Arizona, blasting a solo shot off the right-field foul pole for his fourth home run in two days and his sixth in five games. The homer marked his 500th career RBI.
Collmenter (2-2) kept the struggling Astros on their heels for six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits for his third straight quality start. He is 1-0 with a 1.51 ERA since April 24.
Astros starter Jordan Lyles kept the red-hot Diamondbacks in check for five innings but the game turned in the sixth, when Miguel Montero hit a bouncer up the middle with the bases loaded and one out. Astros shortstop Marwin Gonzalez fielded the ball behind second base and flipped to second baseman Jose Altuve, who was unable to barehand the ball, allowing two runs to score.
Lyles (2-7) was charged with eight runs (five earned) on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings. He has lost six of his last seven decisions and has allowed 13 home runs in 73 2/3 innings.
