Mets 5, Diamondbacks 1: R.A. Dickey had eight strikeouts over seven innings and Scott Hairston drove in two runs as visiting New York won for just the third time in its last 17 games.
Dickey (14-2) allowed one unearned run on four hits with three walks and took over the National League lead in wins while helping the Mets salvage a split of the four-game series.
David Wright and Hairston gave the Mets an early lead with back-to-back RBI doubles in the first inning off Joe Saunders (5-7), who gave up four runs over seven innings.
New York added to its lead on Hairston’s RBI single in the fifth and Daniel Murphy’s run-scoring double in the sixth.
The Diamondbacks scored their lone run in the sixth when Paul Goldschmidt singled to deep center, scoring Aaron Hill. With two men on, Dickey struck out Chris Young to end the inning.
Josh Thole delivered an insurance run in the top of the eighth when his double off Brad Bergesen scored Andres Torres, who had two hits and went 6-for-12 during the four-game series.
