Yankees 5, Angels 3: Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson hit home runs in support of Freddy Garcia, and New York's bullpen locked down a second straight win over visiting Los Angeles.

Cano wasted no time extending his hitting streak to 17 games, as he took a Jerome Williams pitch off the top of the left-field wall for his 21st homer in the bottom of the first. The blast tied the game at 2-2 after Alberto Callaspo put the Angels ahead with a two-run single in the top half of the inning. Cano added an RBI single in the sixth.

Granderson gave the Yankees the lead with a two-run blast to right in the third, his 24th and the Yankees' league-best 138th of the campaign.

Garcia (4-2) labored through five innings, allowing three runs on five hits and walking five. Three relievers combined for four scoreless innings with Rafael Soriano working the ninth for his 22nd save.

Williams (6-6) allowed five runs on seven hits in six innings in his first big-league start since June 18.

Angels rookie Mike Trout went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and leads the American League in batting average (.350) and steals (30).

GAME NOTEBOOK: Trout became the sixth rookie in club history with 30 or more stolen bases in a season. He has 21 consecutive stolen bases without being caught. ... Of the Yankees' 423 runs, 218 have come on homers.
