Braves 4, Orioles 2: Rookie Andrelton Simmons slugged a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth inning as host Atlanta snapped its four-game losing streak.
Simmons’ blast off Brian Matusz (5-7) helped end Baltimore’s five-game win streak.
Atlanta starter Tommy Hanson allowed two unearned runs over 5 1/3 innings. Chad Durbin (3-0) picked up the win in relief, Kris Medlen tossed two scoreless innings and Craig Kimbrel earned his 19th save in 20 chances.
Matusz, who saw his scheduled Wednesday start pushed back when a ball hit him in the nose during bunting practice, fell to 0-6 lifetime in interleague play. He allowed four runs over 5 2/3 innings.
Braves leadoff hitter Michael Bourn extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a seeing-eye RBI single in the sixth that pushed Atlanta’s lead to 4-2.
Brian McCann, who homered for the second straight game, launched a first-pitch fastball to right-center to give Atlanta a 1-0 first-inning lead. But the Orioles grabbed a 2-1 lead in the fourth when Wilson Betemit barely beat the throw home on Steve Pearce’s sacrifice fly.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Baltimore hit into four double plays Friday, raising its season total to an MLB-high 72. ... Simmons finished 3-for-4, upping his average to .333. ... This was Medlen's first appearance since being called up from Triple-A Gwinnett.
