Orioles 5, Yankees 0: Jake Arrieta tied his career high with nine strikeouts in eight scoreless innings as visiting Baltimore ended Ivan Nova's 15-game winning streak.
Matt Wieters homered, doubled and drove in two runs and Nick Markakis clubbed a solo home run as the Orioles took the rubber game of the series.
Arrieta (2-2) was masterful in dominating New York's lineup, scattering five singles and not walking a batter to move Baltimore 2 1/2 games ahead of the Yankees in the AL East.
Nova (3-1) was charged with five runs on nine hits in 6 1/3 innings in absorbing his first loss since June 3, 2011, in Anaheim. He was attempting to match Roger Clemens' franchise record of 16 straight wins set in 2001.
New York scored only three runs in the series, the first time it has been held to two runs or fewer in three straight home games against the Orioles since 1978.
Wieters, who has tormented Nova in his brief career, launched a solo homer in the fourth inning for the only run Arrieta would need.
Robert Andino's infield single plated a run in the sixth before Baltimore broke it open with a three-run seventh. Markakis hit his first homer since the second game of the year for a 3-0 lead.
Wieters doubled home a run to chase Nova before ex-Yankee Nick Johnson delivered an RBI single. Johnson, who broke an 0-for-29 start to the season with an RBI double in Tuesday's win, had two hits.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Arrieta had nine strikeouts against the Yankees last season ... Wieters is 7-for-14 with three homers and five RBIs against Nova ... Yankees 3B Eric Chavez left the game during an at-bat in the bottom of the fifth inning with an undisclosed injury. After taking a called strike, Chavez stepped out of the box twice and was removed from the game. Eduardo Nunez completed the at-bat and struck out ... Orioles 3B Mark Reynolds struck out in the fourth and has whiffed in a club-record 19 consecutive games ... Markakis extended his hitting streak to five games.
