Washington State 70, USC 66: Dexter Kernich-Drew scored 19 points as the Cougars held on for the Pac-12 road win and snapped their two-game slide.

DaVonte Lacy added 17 for Washington State (12-15, 6-9 Pac-12), which nearly blew a 19-point second-half lead. Josh Hawkinson added 11 points and 13 rebounds and hit a crucial free throw with seven seconds left.

USC played without point guard Jordan McLaughlin, who missed his fourth game with a shoulder injury, and lost its third straight game and its 12th in its last 13 outings. The Trojans (10-18, 2-14) got 16 points apiece from Malik Marquetti, Katin Reinhardt and Julian Jacobs.

The Cougars erased a 5-0 deficit by getting 15 points from Kernich-Drew, who hit all four of his 3-point attempts on the way to a 37-27 halftime lead. USC trimmed the deficit to 39-32 early in the second half but Washington State got nine points from Lacy in a 16-4 run to open up a 55-36 advantage with 11 minutes left.

USC responded with a lighting-quick 11-0 run cutting the margin to 55-47 with 9:06 and it was 64-61 after Marquetti drained a 3-pointer with 3:23 left. Reinhardt hit a 3-pointer to cut Washington State's lead to 69-66 with nine seconds left but Hawkinson converted a free throw on the Cougars' next possession to put the game away.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The three USC players sent back to Los Angeles last week, Reinhardt, Chass Bryan and Devon Pflueger, were reinstated for the game. ...The Trojans can finish no better than tied for last in the conference. ...Nikola Jovanovic had 10 points and seven rebounds for USC.
