Texas 79, Baylor 70: Sheldon McClellan had 23 points off the bench as the Longhorns held off the visiting Bears.
Myck Kabongo added 19 points, eight assists, three steals and six rebounds while Ioannis Papapetrou had a season-high 18 points for the Longhorns (14-16, 6-11 Big 12). McClellan, who was scoreless in seven minutes in Saturday's loss to Oklahoma State, played 25 minutes and shot 9-of-14 from the floor.
Pierre Jackson led the Bears (17-13, 8-9) with 22 points and eight assists. Isaiah Austin added 15 points, including a 3-pointer that got the Bears within 63-60 with 2:56 left.
Baylor took its first lead since the opening half at 57-56 on Deuce Bello's fast-break layup with 5:22 left but Papapetrou scored the next five points to give Texas the lead for good. Papapetrou's 3-pointer pushed the lead to 61-57 and, after the teams traded baskets, Julian Lewis' 3-pointer with 1:47 helped the Longhorns seal the victory.
McClellan scored 10 points over a 3:10 span of the first half to give Texas a 24-23 lead with 7:18 left. Jonathan Holmes' 3-pointer with 13 seconds left gave the Longhorns a 36-34 halftime lead.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Jackson has hit a 3-pointer in 41 consecutive games, the second-longest streak in program history (LaceDarius Dunn had a 45-game streak from January 2010 and March 2011). ...
