Maikel Franco hit a three-run double in the seventh inning to rally the host Philadelphia Phillies to a 7-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday.
Rhys Hoskins added a homer and Andrew McCutchen and Cesar Hernandez ripped three hits apiece while J.T. Realmuto, Jean Segura and Franco had two hits each.
Phillies starter Aaron Nola tossed 5 2/3 innings and allowed seven hits and one run while throwing 102 pitches before being replaced by Hector Neris. Seranthony Dominguez (2-0) earned the win.
Jordy Mercer hit a solo home run while Jeimer Candelario, Niko Goodrum and Ronny Rodriguez each collected two hits for the Tigers.
Tigers starter Daniel Norris was very effective in five innings, giving up five hits and one run while throwing only 64 pitches. Reliever Buck Farmer (1-2) took the loss.
In the second inning, the Phillies managed three hits that resulted in a 1-0 lead as Hernandez hit an RBI single.
The Tigers placed runners at first and second with one out in the fourth but Nola worked out of the jam. Mercer was walked intentionally with two outs to load the bases. JaCoby Jones struck out swinging on an inside changeup.
In the sixth, Goodrum opened with a single to center but was thrown out stealing second base by Realmuto. But with two outs and runners on first and second, Jones blooped an RBI single off Nola to left to tie the score at 1.
The Tigers went ahead 2-1 in the seventh when Rodriguez hit a looping RBI single to left off Dominguez.
Franco ripped a three-run double to the gap in right-center field off Victor Alcantara with one out in the seventh as the Phillies regained the lead 4-2. The double snapped an 0-for-10 skid for Franco.
McCutchen followed with an RBI single to center, scoring Franco for a 5-2 advantage.
Mercer's solo shot to lead off the eighth against Pat Neshek sliced the lead to 5-3.
Hoskins responded with a solo homer in the eighth for a 6-3 advantage.
