Mariners 13, Angels 2: Chris Taylor drove in three runs and Dustin Ackley, Austin Jackson and Mike Zunino had two RBIs apiece as visiting Seattle routed Los Angeles.

Former Angel Kendrys Morales had two hits and scored twice, Kyle Seager had two hits and one RBI and Carson Smith (1-0) pitched two hitless innings as the Mariners won for only the second time in seven games. Seattle moved within one game of Kansas City for the American League’s second wild card.

Albert Pujols and David Freese drove in runs for the Angels, who lost for only the second time in 13 games. Jason Grilli (1-3) allowed four fifth-inning runs for Los Angeles, which has a magic number of two to clinch the AL West.

Seattle trailed 2-0 entering the fifth before tying the game on Zunino’s two-run double and going ahead on Taylor’s RBI double. Ackley hit a run-scoring double for the inning’s final run before the Mariners exploded for six runs in the sixth.

Endy Chavez and Jackson recorded RBI singles and Ackley hit a sacrifice fly to make it 7-2. Robinson Cano’s infield hit plated one run and catcher Chris Iannetta’s throwing error allowed another to score before Seager capped the inning with a run-scoring single.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Los Angeles DH Josh Hamilton (shoulder) returned from an 11-game absence and went 1-of-3. … Seattle starter Roenis Elias gave up two runs and five hits in three-plus innings before leaving with elbow pain, while Angels starter Cory Rasmus gave up one hit in four scoreless innings. … Los Angeles RHP Matt Shoemaker (oblique) will miss his next start after being injured in Monday’s game.
