Clayton Kershaw outdueled previously unbeaten Ubaldo Jimenez as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the visiting Colorado Rockies 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Kershaw (2-2) struck out nine in eight innings, allowing just two hits and three walks.
Jimenez (6-1) gave up just two hits in losing his first regular-season decision since last September. He struck out five and walked four as his earned-run average rose to 0.93.
Colorado got back-to-back two-out singles from Melvin Mora and Ryan Spilborghs in the ninth before Jonathan Broxton retired Ian Stewart on a fly to right for his third save.
Jamey Carroll’s infield single in the third inning drove in the Dodgers’ first run and Russell Martin homered in the eighth.
Blake DeWitt led off the Los Angeles third with a double and scored when Carroll’s infield single bounced off the glove of Jimenez and caromed into shallow right field.
The Dodgers won two of three games in the weekend series and are now 16-5 against the Rockies since the start of the 2009 season.
