Miguel Cabrera's bases-loaded single drove in two runs and broke a seventh-inning tie, leading the Detroit Tigers to a 6-4 win over the Cleveland Indians on Saturday.
Scott Sizemore had a three-run double and rookie Austin Jackson had a pair of hits and a stolen base for the Tigers, who have beaten the Indians 10 straight times.
Cabrera's single came off Kerry Wood (0-1), who was making his first appearance of the season.
Wood was activated from the disabled list Friday after missing the first month with a sore upper back. He retired the first two hitters in the seventh, but gave up a double to Jackson before walking Johnny Damon and Magglio Ordonez.
Cabrera, who leads the American League with 32 RBIs, lined the second pitch to right field.
Justin Verlander (3-2) allowed three runs and struck out nine in six innings. He retired the first 10 hitters before Grady Sizemore drew a one-out walk in the fourth.
After Shin-Soo Choo walked, Travis Hafner's single to left scored Grady Sizemore. Austin Kearns' two-run single with the bases loaded tied the game in the sixth. Kearns added a sacrifice fly in the eighth.
Verlander, Joel Zumaya and Jose Valverde, who recorded his eighth save in nine chances, combined to strike out 15 batters.
Justin Masterson allowed three runs, all coming on Scott Sizemore's bases-clearing double in the fourth.
