Blues 3, Maple Leafs 0: Alex Steen scored in his fifth straight game while Brian Elliott made 27 saves to record his 28th career shutout and third of the season as host St. Louis extended its point streak to seven contests (6-0-1).

Defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk and T.J. Oshie also tallied for the Blues, who improved to 4-0-1 on their season-high seven-game homestand. Steen, who stretched his point streak to nine games, added an assist while captain David Backes recorded a pair to extend his point run to six contests (seven goals, six assists).

Jonathan Bernier stopped 30 shots as the Maple Leafs completed an 0-4-0 road trip during which they scored a total of one goal and fell for the seventh time in their last eight contests. Toronto has been outscored 20-3 in six straight road losses and has dropped 11 of its last 14 overall games.

Shattenkirk pinched in from the point and collected a turnover before maneuvering into the left faceoff circle and sending a backhander past Bernier's glove with 3:20 left in the first period for his eighth goal. Toronto had a pair of solid scoring chances late in the second session, but former Maple Leafs defenseman Carl Gunnarsson snuffed out a 3-on-1 rush and James van Riemsdyk missed from close range.

Steen collected a loose puck in the slot, moved around Toronto blue-liner Dion Phaneuf and waited for Bernier to commit before lofting a backhander just under the crossbar 1:38 into the third for his 15th goal. Oshie's 12th of the season - and seventh in nine games - came with five minutes left as he accepted a pass from Steen during a 2-on-1 and easily beat Bernier to the glove side.
