Panthers 4, Avalanche 1: Defenseman Brian Campbell scored a power-play goal and added an assist as Florida halted its nine-game winless streak on the road.
Brad Boyes, Tomas Kopecky and Jonathan Huberdeau also tallied for the Panthers, who went 0-8-1 away from home after winning their season opener at Dallas. Blue-liner Tom Gilbert set up three goals while Tim Thomas made 32 saves and notched an assist en route to his 200th career win.
Ryan O'Reilly scored the lone goal for the Avalanche, who suffered their third consecutive loss and fourth in six games after winning 12 of their first 13. Semyon Varlamov stopped 29 shots for Colorado, which has been outscored 13-5 during its slide.
Boyes opened the scoring at 12:40 of the first period by converting a feed from Scottie Upshall, who also helped set up Campbell's blast from the top of the left faceoff circle 75 seconds into the middle session that made it 2-0. O'Reilly halved the deficit at 7:23, when his pass attempt caromed off a defender and past Thomas.
Kopecky grabbed a loose puck inside the blue line 6 1/2 minutes later and raced in a lone before beating Varlamov with a backhander two seconds after a power play expired for a 3-1 advantage. Huberdeau capped the scoring by burying a rebound in the low slot.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Kopecky has scored in two straight contests following a 28-game drought dating back to April 6. ... Colorado C Paul Stastny had his five-game point streak come to an end. ... The Panthers scored more than three goals for the first time in 16 contests.
