MIAMI, Fla. -- Miami put only three players in double figures, but coach Jim Larranaga had other reasons to be happy after his 10th-ranked Hurricanes disposed of Princeton 80-52 on Saturday night in the nightcap of the Hoophall Miami Invitational doubleheader at AmericanAirlines Arena.

"I'm most pleased with the defense because Princeton moves the ball themselves so well," Larranaga said. "They're cutting constantly, driving, posting you up, their 5 man plays at the top of the key -- we're not used to that -- so we adjusted.

"The adjustments by our players was very, very good. We went from a game on Wednesday against Minnesota with a huge inside to a team that stretches you out.

"Our offense, we had to adapt to the way they defense as well."

The Hurricanes (7-0) held the Tigers (2-5) to 31.1 percent shooting for the game and 8 of 32 from behind the 3-point arc. The Tigers scored only 20 points in the first half, a season low.

"We had a hard time scoring," coach Mitch Henderson said. "Two of our better shooters went 0-for tonight., Devin Cannady and Sebastian Much. That's not going to be good for us."

Cannady scored 11 points but missed all six of his 3-point attempts. He came into the game shooting 59.1 percent from behind the arc. Much, a 41.7 percent 3-point shooter, fired blanks on nine attempts.

Amir Bell led Princeton with 13 points. Myles Stephens matched Cannady's 11 points as the only other player in double figures for Princeton.

DJ Vasiljevic scored a game- and career-high 20 points. Guard Bruce Brown Jr. added 17, and freshman guard Lonnie Walker IV scored a season-high 12 for the Hurricanes.

Miami took command of the game midway through the first half after Princeton had worked their way to a 16-14 lead.

Walker hit a 3-pointer to put Miami up by one, and that sparked a 13-0 run that had the Hurricanes leading 27-16 with just over five minutes left in the half.

With Brown getting 14 of his points in the first half, the Hurricanes worked their way to a 38-20 advantage at intermission, holding the Tigers to 8-of-30 shooting for the half.

"We were, we were doing good for about 10 minutes," Henderson said. "But they are really good. They made shots. They do a lot of things well. We had a couple of costly turnovers. We didn't turn over the ball that much, but they really had firepower tonight."

Miami shot 50 percent from the field and owned a 39-31 advantage in rebounds.

The Hurricanes led by as many as 20 points, 47-27, just a little over four minutes into the second half and never let the Tigers get closer than 15 the rest of the way. Their biggest lead was 78-49 with just over a minute left.

But Brown said they still have work to do.

"We definitely had slip-ups on defense, so there's definitely film on that," Brown said. "We had several plays on offense where we didn't take good shots. There's little plays we need to fix in everything."

NOTES: Miami G Bruce Brown is 12 of 19 from the field and has scored 40 points in the team's last two games. ... Miami is 7-0 for the first time since starting the 2014-15 season with an 8-0 mark. ... The 20 points were a season low for the first half for the Tigers. ... The Hurricanes have held five consecutive opponents to fewer than 60 points for the game. ... Miami's next game is Tuesday back on campus at the Watsco Center against Boston University. The Hurricanes then have an 11-day break for final exams. ... Princeton's next game is Wednesday at George Washington.
