Boise State 63, No. 25 Wyoming 61: Jeff Elorriaga hit a 3-pointer as time expired to give the visiting Broncos an upset of the previously unbeaten Cowboys.
Boise State (13-2, 1-0 Mountain West) took a 57-50 lead with 2:48 to play when Thomas Bropleh capped a 12-2 Broncos run with a layup. But the Cowboys responded with a 9-0 run, with five points by Leonard Washington and four by Riley Grabau, to take a 59-57 lead with 44 seconds to play.
Elorriaga hit a 3-pointer with 31 seconds left to give Boise State a 60-59 advantage. But Elorriaga fouled Josh Adams with 9.1 seconds to play, sending him to the line, where he gave Wyoming (13-1, 0-1) a one-point lead.
Elorriaga finished with 18 points, all coming on 3-pointers. Anthony Drmic also had 18 for Boise State, which hit 57.9 percent from 3-point range (11-of-19).
Derrious Gilmore had 17 points to lead four Cowboys in double figures. Washington and Josh Adams each scored 12 for Wyoming, which shot 51.3 percent from the field.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Boise State was without four players - including leading scorer and assist man Derrick Marks - who were suspended indefinitely for an undisclosed violation of team rules. Also left home were Michael Thompson, Kenny Buckner and Darrious Hamilton. … Wyoming dropped to 5-9 in Mountain West Conference openers, including 3-5 at home. … The Broncos have some time to celebrate a big win, having a week off before hosting New Mexico on Jan. 16. The Cowboys try to bounce back on Saturday when they travel to face Nevada.
