Brandon Rush's basket with 5.4 seconds remaining gave the Indiana Pacers a 102-101 triumph over the visiting Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night.

After Austin Daye's jumper with 11.1 seconds left had given the Pistons their first lead since midway through the first quarter, Rush responded with a layup on a feed from Danny Granger. Detroit guard Rodney Stuckey turned the ball over on the next possession, handing the Pacers their second straight win.

Tyler Hansbrough led the way with 21 points and 12 rebounds as Indiana (26-30) improved to 9-3 under interim coach Frank Vogel.

Rookie Greg Monroe poured in a career-best 27 points to go with 12 rebounds as the Pistons (21-38) dropped their second straight.

Detroit trailed by as many as 16 points in the third quarter but chipped away at the deficit, holding Indiana without a basket for the final three minutes to trail by just five entering the fourth period.

Indiana extended the bulge to eight points midway through the quarter before Monroe converted a three-point play and Ben Gordon added a 3-pointer at the end of the shot clock to highlight a game-tying 8-0 run.

Granger's 3-pointer put the Pacers back in front, but Detroit closed within one in the final minute on Monroe's bank shot. Gordon blocked Darren Collison's shot with 20.6 seconds left, setting the stage for the frenetic final moments.
